Today we had a church service at the Baptist Church. The sermon was good but I still dozed through some of it. I got over nine hours of sleep but I still feel like I need to catch up. After the service we went on a country walk through the outskirts of Charlbury. A good example of a cultural difference came up. We asked the man leading our group what plants were growing in the fields around us.
“Rape” he answered.
“What?”
“Rape plants; to make rape-seed oil with.”
Eventually we figured out that rape seed oil is the equivalent of canola oil. It caused quite a few giggles. We are a little immature. We are also a little slow. We were the stragglers of the group and we ended up getting lost in the fields of rape. Peter came and picked us up; and then dropped us off right outside our house. What service! Posted by Picasa
