Saturday we visited Warwick Castle and Coventry Cathedral. It was so tiring but so amazing. Parts of Warwick castle were built as old as 1050 ad. Since then more parts have been added and during the Victorian era the inside of the rooms were redone quite lavishly. It’s funny because me and some of the girls watched Vanity Fair last night and some of the rooms and wax figures looked exactly like the movie. Annie, Lauren and I had a lot of fun with those was figures… as the pictures are proof of that. As much as we enjoyed poking fun at the wax figures it was pretty amazing to think that people like that actually lived there at one point.
After Warwick castle we went to Coventry Cathedral which really blew me away. Well, it had been blown away as well in the 2nd World War. My host dad was telling me his grandfather was a fire-fighter during world war II and was one of the guys that failed to put out the fire. The ruins of the cathedral are amazing. They built a new one right next to it to symbolize the growth and recovery from the war and the reuniting of nations torn asunder. I think words would fail to describe it…. Just enjoy the pictures. Posted by Picasa
