Crunchy Cons

One perk of working at a library is encountering a large number of interesting books. While I was checking in some books I came across a book with such an interesting title I had to take it home and read it. It's called Crunchy Cons: How Birkenstocked Burkeans, Gun-Loving Organic Gardeners, Evangelical Free-Range Farmers, Hip Homeschooling Mamas, Right Wing Nature Lovers, and Their Diverse Tribe of Countercultural Conservatives Plan to Save America (or at Least the Republican Party). After reading that title I started wondering how this guy knew my family--and many other people in my town. Apparantly we aren't as strange as I thought we were and there are many other people in the world like us. Rod Dreher wrote the book after receiving a huge positive response on an article of a similar nature. Before reading this book I thought it was impossible to vote for someone who was against abortion, but for the environment. Now I see it doesn't have to be that way. A hugely interesting book and article.

That article was incredibly interesting! Although I'm not sure the title of his book describes me exactly, I think it does describe my Mom! : )

Your statement on voting and abortion has sparked my curiosity! Now I will need to read the book. I will start the book the same as you, but I can hardly imagine being persuaded otherwise...but I like to be challenged and try my best to be open-minded.
