Christ Church
The 13 of us girls have developed a slight obsession. It’s this tiny stand in the covered market that Kristy chanced upon by accident. It’s called Ben’s Cookies and you pretty much haven’t lived until you’ve tried it. We talk about it so much that we even convinced some other RPC students to go get cookies with us today. After lunch a group of about 10 of us all left the cafeteria to run halfway across Oxford to get the cookies and then go to our class at 2. It was totally worth it.
Oh and other good things. We wanted to go to Evensong at 6 so we had 2 hours to kill after our last class. We poked into a bookshop for a little bit. I bought Wayside School is Falling Down; these are stories that I used to read in 1st grade. I’ve often thought about them since; I can’t believe I finally found one of the books! After that we went to the sandwich shop that sells their sandwiches for 1 pound after 5. We get in there, eye the sandwiches and Sarah asks the server when the sandwiches start going for a pound.
“Five o-clock, I don’t think its five yet.”
“I have 5:02” says Sarah
“Well you’re right on the pulse; I haven’t even put out the sign yet.”
So we eat our sandwiches, which were even better because we got them for half off. And then we went to the service at Christ Church. It was so beautiful. The inside of this church is so big and your eyes are drawn straight upward to the high ceilings. The combination of the organ and the boy’s choir filled the entire space and it seemed that the church was swelling and bursting with the music. Sigh…
