Shakespeare houses
The Shakespeare houses were cool but most of them had very slight connections with Shakespeare. One was the house of the doctor that married Shakespeare's daughter Susanna; another was were Shakespeare's grandaughter Elizabeth lived for a few years.
Shakespeare's father's house. He was actually born here.
What suprised me most about these houses was to find how wealthy Shakespeare was. I knew he was pretty well-to-do at his death because he had bought shares in all the playhouses, but I was under the impression that he started out poor and worked himself up. Not so. His father's house was nice and roomy even for today. His dad was a glover, a tanner and the town mayor - a highly respected member of the community and pretty well-off. I guess the only struggle Shakespeare had to deal with was not having a university education as did most of his contempories.
